Elon Musk, the founder of the space exploration technology company Space, has recently continued to work on the Mars colonization project. However, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, said in an interview that colonizing Mars is quite expensive. It is better to invest in the development of vaccines to save lives.
In an interview with the BBC, Bill Gates was asked if he thought Musk qualified as a philanthropist. Bill Gates responded that he doesn’t think that’s the case for Musk right now, but that might change in the future. It also cast doubt on Musk’s plans to colonize Mars.
Musk and Bill Gates have choked each other many times before. Bill Gates believes that instead of sending people to Mars, it is better to fund the development of vaccines. “Going to Mars is actually quite expensive. It’s better to buy a measles vaccine and save a life for only $1,000.” Bill Gates said.
From their views on the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the idea of electric trucks, or their evaluation of each other, Bill Gates and Musk frequently exchanged words. In the middle of last year, Musk posted a post to ridicule Bill Gates because Bill Gates shorted Tesla and now needs more than a billion dollars to close his position.
Musk also complained that Bill Gates shorted $500 million in Tesla stock, retorting that he would never support Gates’ philanthropy. “Sorry, I can’t take your philanthropy on climate change seriously when you (Gates) short Tesla, the company that has done the most to address climate change.”
Bill Gates responded in an interview that shorting Tesla has nothing to do with climate change. It is just an investment, which does not mean that he opposes helping to solve the problem of climate change. Shorting Tesla does not mean that he opposes the rise of electric vehicles.
