Elon Musk (Prematurely) Eulogizes Donald Trump’s Political Career

Elon Musk’s critics and critics have long argued that Tesla’s (TSLA) – Get Tesla Inc report The CEO wants to restore the former US president’s Twitter account to help him retake the White House in 2024.

They ignored Musk’s tweets advocating age limits for candidates wanting to run for office.

The billionaire tweeted on May 12: “The founders of America didn’t expect people to live this long, so they set a minimum age (for wisdom), not a maximum age (for… 😴) .”

Musk Plants Anti-Trump Leads

US President Joe Biden turns 80 in November and will turn 82 shortly after Election Day 2024. Donald Trump turns 76 in June and will be 78 in the next White House election.

Another negative tweet from Musk about Trump on the same day also appeared to escape many of Musk’s skeptics.

“While I think 2024 would be better with a less divisive candidate, I still think Trump should get back on Twitter,” the tech mogul wrote.

For many of Musk’s critics, the impetus for his acquisition of microblogging site Twitter (TWTR) – Get Twitter Inc. report Giving everyone almost unlimited speech belies the purpose of returning Trump’s pulpit.

(Of course, Musk is now pulling out of the deal. Trump has built his own version of Twitter, called Truth Social.)

When Musk said he would vote Republican from now on, his decision confirmed the concerns of progressive Democrats, who often hesitate to seek parallels between Musk and Trump.

But Musk has become one of the most influential figures, with 100.9 million Twitter followers. That’s more than the 88 million Trump accumulated on his personal Twitter account (@RealDonaldTrump) before he was suspended after the Capitol incident in January 2021.

Musk has pledged to personally spend between $20 million and $25 million to support his candidate. That candidate was not Donald Trump, but Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, 43.

But before throwing all his punch behind DeSantis, Musk first wants to exclude Trump as a challenger. He posted a tweet that included sharp criticism of Trump’s four-year presidency.

The situation began when Musk urged Trump to leave the political arena. In the same tweet, Musk responded to Trump calling him a “crap artist.”

Musk asked Democrats to condemn the former president’s remarks. The Tesla CEO says the only way for Trump to survive politically is to return to the White House.

Surprised by Musk’s criticism of Trump, a Twitter user who appeared to be a fan of the former president asked Musk what he didn’t like about Trump’s policies. He listed various measures Trump has taken, such as lower taxes and less regulation.

“Yeah, but so dramatic. Do we really want the bull in the china shop every day!?” Musk responded.

Musk made it clear that he doesn’t think the American people can afford Trump’s re-election because he could cause chaos or at least damage. He thought Trump had acted recklessly.

Musk also seems concerned that the real estate billionaire won’t stop to think and be insensitive to other people’s feelings.

Musk summed up years of criticism against the former president and private expressions of Republican members in two sentences. Most importantly, he thinks Trump is too old to lead the country.

“Furthermore, I think the legal maximum age to start a presidency should be 69,” Musk added.

Musk said: “Trump will be 82 at the end of his term, which is too old to be CEO of anything, let alone the United States of America. If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024 , then DeSantis will win easily — he won’t.” It doesn’t even need a campaign. “

The tweets appear to mark the end of any friendship between Twitter’s most influential newcomer and someone who previously held the title.
