The first priority of some corporate executives’ trips is to visit local businesses and meet with management personnel, while others hope to meet with local business partners and government officials. Dozens of business executives are expected to attend business meetings in China in the coming months after the Chinese government lifted anti-epidemic restrictions.

Blume was one of the first executives of a major multinational company to visit China since the Chinese government lifted most border controls in early January. A Fox spokesman said Blume was in China for five days and met with joint venture partners, employees and government officials.

In fact, Blume, who took charge of Fox five months ago, visited China as early as last November. A Fox spokesman said that Blume was one of the few corporate executives who accompanied German Chancellor Scholz on his visit to China at the time.

A number of business conferences in China in the coming months are also expected to attract business leaders, including the China Development Forum, an annual global economic conference hosted by the Chinese government and scheduled for late March, and the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan . The Boao Forum for Asia is a government-backed gathering of political and business leaders modeled on the World Economic Forum (WEF).

According to sources, corporate executives who are considering participating in the China Development Forum include Cook and Bourla, and the former served as the co-chairman of the China Development Forum. A Mercedes spokesman said Källenius also planned to attend the meeting.

When the executives of multinational corporations “return” to China, global capital also returns to this investment hotspot. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce of China, China’s actual use of foreign capital in RMB exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan for the first time last year, an increase of 6.3%, and the scale of foreign investment is second to none in the world.
