New MSC Cruise Ship Takes on Royal Caribbean, Carnival in the U.S.

Miami is the unofficial homeport of the US cruise industry and the de facto cruise capital of North America.Royal Caribbean (RCL) – Get the Royal Caribbean Group reportCarnival Cruise Line (CCL) – Get Carnival Corporation Reportand Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) – Get Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd report All headquarters are in this city. Additionally, the Port of Miami has multiple cruise ships on each route.

As the largest cruise port in the United States, Miami has become a battleground city for the industry. The port is more or less centrally located, so it’s easy to fly in and a quick ride from the airport and many downtown hotels.

Both Royal Caribbean and Carnival sail several top ships in the Port of Miami, which is often the first home port for new ships in the United States. In fact, you can sail any type of Caribbean itinerary on a Royal Caribbean, Carnival or Norwegian high-end cruise, from a quick three-day weekend trip to a one-week cruise.

Now, MSC Cruises has its sights set on the US market. The European cruise line has a new market flagship, MSC Seascape, which will set sail from Miami in January.

MSc Pursuit of Home Audience

The company claims that MSC Seascape “will enhance the family experience and provide children with endless options for onboard entertainment.”

When the ship begins offering seven-night sailings in December 2022, MSC has promised 98 hours of live entertainment per sailing, more than 7,500 square feet of dedicated space for kids, and “cutting-edge entertainment options.”

This is MSC coming to Miami with a boat that rivals the best that Carnival and Royal Caribbean have to offer.

“We’ve invested heavily in entertaining our youngest guests. We know they value the latest technology, trends and events more than any other group, and we’re leading the way in creating special holidays,” said Steve, Global Head of Entertainment, MSC Leatham said.

“The programming of this boat is full of innovations in hardware and software, and we have taken care to ensure that all the amazing venues and spaces on this amazing boat are available exclusively to all ages. We are working with many partners Collaborated and made most of it to satisfy myself, making sure everything was relevant and fit for our amazing boat.”

The ship will offer two LEGO rooms and a space designed for older kids.

“Guests aged 12 to 17 will enjoy three new themed areas to interact with other teens of the same age,” the company said.

“The first space will be centered on the ‘future’ and feature a tech zone with the latest generation of consoles, VR and screens. The ‘Chill Out’ zone will provide teens with opportunities to communicate, exchange social media connections and challenge each other’s games Venue table tennis and table football.

“The third space celebrates ‘music’ with a dance club featuring light and sound effects, allowing teens to choose their own songs late into the night,”

More competition in Miami

MSC has never mentioned Royal Caribbean or Carnival in any of its press materials, but it is clearly designing a ship that aims to rival what the two companies have to offer.

Seascape is built with families in mind, a core audience for two of America’s leading cruise lines.

“With MSC Seascape, we want to surprise and leave Gen Z speechless. Over the years, we have listened to the 350,000 young people who have traveled with us and followed their trends and requirements,” MSC Matteo Mancini, Children’s Entertainment Manager, said.

“We will provide more space and new experiences for teens, with exclusive game shows for this age group and the first ‘edutainment’ game show focused on history, introducing new technology and the concept of social media. ”
