Free subway sandwiches? Yes, please.
For the first time in its nearly 60-year history, Subway has drastically changed its menu, removing some of the ingredient autonomy that customers love and expect.
But you’re in good hands: The culinary team has spent more than a year fine-tuning the Subway line of 12 new signature sandwiches, the company announced Tuesday.
The fast-food chain will be giving away up to 1 million free Metro Line sandwiches on July 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time. Customers can visit participating Subway locations during the slot and receive a free 6-inch sandwich in the new collection.

You can order sandwiches by name or number: “I want size 8” or “I want big garlic”. The Subway Collection includes four categories—cheesesteak, Italian, chicken, and clubs—with three sandwiches in each category.
But those who like to choose ingredients need not panic: You can still order the original, customizable sandwiches.
“The Subway line is the most ambitious undertaking in the company’s history as we transform the blueprint that has helped make Subway a global phenomenon for nearly 60 years,” said Trevor Haynes, president of Subway North America, in a release.
